What Am I?

Image
What Am I? 1.         You are not this body. You are an eternal soul now abiding in this body. 2.         “I” and “MY” signify two separate entities. 3.         You are not this body, your body is but a tabernacle, or say your cottage. 4.         The soul is the driver in charge of the body which serves as a carriage also to the soul. 5.         The body and its organs are the means of action. 6.         The soul is a diamond, the body being the casket for it. 7.         There is a composite machine or assembly of instruments by means of which I speak, hear, see, work and move about, but I am different from it through I employ it (body). THE CONCEPTS OF VALUES & SPIRITUALITY

Image
THE CONCEPTS OF VALUES & SPIRITUALITY                 The concepts of values & spirituality are more theistic religions & evolved & changed as the regions became socially governing entities. Over time religions have sub-divided into branches, leading to further variations of teachings & practices. Hinduism is both theistic & non-theistic. Buddhism & Jainism are non-theistic. The concepts & practices are concerned with explaining & reducing the phenomenon of suffering through self-restraint, non-violence & charitable action. Must of the religious literature focuses on the life & teachings of the founder & the history of the religion as an organisation. Hinduism is not a religion as such but a term referring to a vast reservoir of ancient beliefs, practices, philosophies & traditions that originate & prevail in India. It does not have an identified religious founder, & the belief var...

Meditation as medicine

Image
Meditation as medicine PEOPLE today are very much aware of the importance of maintaining their physical health. Various means have been suggested as keys to improving one’s wellbeing, but the fact of psychological stability is still too often down played, either because its importance is not fully recognised or because no way of strengthening that stability has been known.     Numerous scientific investigations have undoubtedly proved that psychological stress can have a disastrous effect on physical health. In diseases like hypertension, diabetes, peptic ulcer, bronchial asthma, psychological stress is one of the factors for causing or complicating the disease process and also disturbs the recovery with pharmacological treatment. Never the less, the knowledge of harmful effects alone does not help us much to lead a life free of worries, stress and tension. More significantly, there is evidence that a simple means exist which relieves stress and re-establishes ...

ETERNAL DRAMA OF SOUL, MATTER AND GOD

ETERNAL DRAMA OF SOUL, MATTER AND GOD  ·          Life is the name given to the state of physical being when the soul is there in a physical system and its consciousness is at work even though it may be at a low degree. Or, in other words, ‘Life’ is the name given to the state of the functioning body, especially when a soul is ensconced in it, whereas ‘Soul’ is a non-physical entity which may have existence and state of being even after leaving its gross body. Consciousness is one of the essential attributes of the soul; it may be manifest or may remain dormant. In this sense, ‘life’ and consciousness though closely related in a physical system, have two different meanings. ·          The existence of Thoughts, Ideas and Consciousness is an indubitable fact of human experience. Every human being thinks and every living being has consciousness and, therefore, the existence of Consciousness an...
